IN MÉXICO

Calavera tradiciones.png

In pre-Hispanic times, "dia de muertos"  was one of the basic elements of culture.

The Day of the Dead is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd.

Every year, many families put up offerings and altars decorated with Cempasuchil flowers, customized paper, small sugar skulls, pan de muerto (a special bread for this occasion), a dish that the deceased enjoyed and incense to aromatize the place.

During this festival, Mexicans decorate tombs with flowers and often build altars on the headstones, which in indigenous times was of great importance as it was thought to help guide souls on a good path after death.

The Feast of the Dead is widely celebrated in the states of Oaxaca and Michoacán.
